Lost in OK

I had several framed photos to ship out today so I made stop at the local UPS store. They had this huge back of packing peanuts sitting in the corner. I had to resist the temptation to buy the whole bag, take them home, fill the bathtub with them and leap in. Or maybe see if I could fill a Mini Cooper with them.

It was just a non-stop frantic day of meetings, errands, tasks and toils. When I finally got a glimpse of my pillow, I was so excited. It may sound like I’m complaining, but really, it was a good day. A day of frantic effort when combined with measurable accomplishments is always a thing to be desired. Plus you can always count on a good night’s sleep on a day like this.

No real story here. I just liked the strong shadow falling across the carpet in the office.

I caught this picture at a local diner called Beverly’s. Waitstaff have a particularly clear way of expressing exhaustion through their body language which I think is captured in this picture.

My day was also a bit physically taxing but really good. We spent the morning getting a bunch of furniture moved into our house including Alex’s bed. Thankfully I was able to do basically nothing for the rest of the afternoon. :)

Grace noticed this romantically shaped split walnut on the back porch. It makes for a nice picture for a fairly relaxing day.

Tonight in Tulsa, this year’s Oklahoma Freewheel route was announced and what an exciting route it looks like it will be.  The route will start in the southwest quadrant of the state, and finish in the Northeast quadrant just across the border in Kansas.  The ride will take place on June 9th through the 16th.  Mileage pretty consistent but there are some long days, plus there are two bonus rides including a century ride and a ride to the top of Mount Scott.

A day with a dead iPhone is a day worth skipping.

News 9 is reporting that police are seeking the driver of a car who struck a cyclist on Monday morning near 31st and Military. The driver initially stopped and asked the cyclist, Bill Hartman, if he was hurt, but then when Mr. Hartman said, “Yes, I am hurt”, the driver said he was sorry but then fled the scene. The driver was middle-aged, wore glasses and had light brown hair. The vehicle is described as a small, gold colored beat-up car.  Mr. Hartman thinks it is likely that the driver lives near the accident site (NW 31st and Military).  Employees of The Red Cup coffee house helped Mr. Hartman until medical help could arrive.   Mr. Hartman was left with a badly broken leg.  If you have any information, please contact the Oklahoma City Police at 405-231-2121.

It is probably time to stop torturing my co-workers for pictures for Project 365. However, I really liked this picture I took of Joseph at lunch. Wow, two work lunches in a week, this might become a pattern. Probably not though, I know the busy times are about to get back underway.

Generally, I avoid joining protests, but occasionally there are ideas so bad that I can’t stay away.  Such is the case with the Protect IP Act (PIPA) which is coming up before the Senate next week.  The goal of protecting intellectual property is certainly a laudable one, but the means to achieve that goal must not come at the expense of the 1st amendment, nor should it fundamentally weaken the technological structure of the Internet.  The Protect-IP bill does all of this with a vague and poorly thought-out bill.
